Super Grub2 Disk 2.06s4, a system rescue live ISO tool designed to help you boot into nearly any operating system when it fails to start, has been released with new features and enhancements.
It has been almost five years since the last stable release of Super Grub2 Disk, but development has continued, leading to this new stable version. The update introduces support for the Btrfs file system, expands the ability to boot into additional operating systems like GNU/Hurd (Debian-based) and ReactOS, and adds support for booting Linux systems directly from the /boot partition.
The Super Grub2 Disk 2.06s4 release also includes new operating system-specific options, such as booting EFI files from EFI partitions, and improved support for various OSes including FreeBSD, FreeDOS, GNU/Hurd, Linux, Mac OS X/Darwin, MS-DOS, ReactOS, Windows 98/ME, Windows NT/2000/XP, as well as Windows Vista and newer versions when using the “Boot manually” option.
With a refreshed appearance, the new stable release adds support for partition labels, updates Debian and Ubuntu Secure Boot binaries to work with the latest UEFI systems, refactors Unicode font file generation, and introduces the ability to force devices to update after enabling native disk drivers.
“This is the first stable release that comes SecureBoot enabled thanks to Debian’s Grub. If the disk does not boot properly, you might want to disable Secure Boot, and in some cases, use the classic versions that do not support Secure Boot,” the developers noted.
Additionally, this release fixes issues with the unicode.pf2 file, adds the ability to search for grub.cfg files on EFI partitions, corrects quoted labels in the diskpartchainboot.cfg file, and includes new language translations, such as Traditional Chinese, Hungarian, Japanese, and Polish.
